LL Recipe Review: Ninja Foodi Honey-Mustard Spare Ribs

One of my favorite appliances in my kitchen is my Ninja Foodi – it’s a mix of an instant pot, crock pot, and air fryer and it is incredible! It makes dinner so easy and quick! I had some pork ribs in my freezer I needed to use so went for this honey-mustard rib recipe tonight from the Ninja cookbook. Here are my thoughts:

  • Time and Effort: Medium (total was ~1hr but hands-on was the rib prep which was about 15 min)
  • Skill Level: Medium (you’ve got to know some basic things about cooking, including removing the rib membrane)
  • Suggestions:
    • I think the crisping time is too long – the sauce began to get a little too brown for me. I would cut the time down to 15 minutes (you can always go longer)
    • Be prepared for the time it takes the pressure cooker to prepare – the cook time for the ribs is 18 minutes but it takes another 10 minutes for the pressure to rise.
  • Meal suggestions: I made asparagus (oven broiled) and sweet potato (oven baked) on the side which were perfect complements to the ribs!

LL’S OVERALL REVIEW: 3.5/5

I will definitely make ribs again in the ninja and follow the same recipe to cook the ribs BUT I wasn’t a huge fan of the honey-mustard. It was less potent than I wanted and would try a bbq or a rub next time. The great thing about the ribs was they were so moist and were literally falling off the bone! It’s amazing what an instant pot will do!
