As you get to know me, you will realize that I love plants. Like REALLY love. I think they add so much life to your home and really bring me so much joy. I could keep going back to the plant stores around town and by new things but I have honestly started running out of room! I thought it would be helpful if I shared my top 3 favorite houseplants. This selection was tough…I have aloe, zz plants, succulents, cacti, violets, orchids, etc. but I really wanted to focus on the 3 that I think could live in any home and thrive (as long as they are watered). These 3 are the ones that I feel like are each fun and different but not super finicky like some popular/trendy houseplants can be (hellooooo fiddle leaf fig).
- Rubber Tree – when I first got mine, it was about a foot tall with three stems. It is literally gigantic now and needed repotting this year. It thrives on moderate light, moderate water, and sometimes some leaf dusting. It has been an easy plant for me to maintain and I love the deep green color with the red backing of the leaves.
- Monstera – I think these just are so fun. I love the big leaves with the holes and I get so excited when I see a new leaf forming. These can be a little trickier but I think they add a quirkiness to a space and a lot of fun texture. They are a statement. I water mine lightly about once a week and sometimes mist it.
- Snake Plant – these are well known for their air quality benefits which is an awesome ‘pro.’ I like that they have a variety of color to them and they grow so tall and skinny – perfect for a small space where you want a big plant but don’t have the room for the leaves everywhere. I also love that these plants can easily be ‘split’ when repotting to grow more and more throughout your home.
Like I said, I have many more favorites (zz plant is also very fun and low maintenance) but these three really add a lot of life to my little home and make me smile. What are your top houseplants? Any recommendations I should check out?
xoxo, LL
